Molluscum Contagiosum

Molluscum Contagiosum is an infective skin disease characterized by small, usually multiple umbilicated cystic lesions which appears like a pearl, caused by a pox virus. It is transmitted readily by contact, hence the name ‘Contagiosum’. This disease is commonly seen in children and young adults.

We get good results in the treatment of Molluscum if patients are treated on holistic principles of homoeopathy.

Hepatitis–B

Hepatitis B is a highly infectious disease caused by Hepatitis B Virus. It damages the liver parenchyma. Complications of this disease are Liver Cirrhosis and Portal Hypertension. It may also lead to Hepatocellular Carcinoma. It is a major health hazard around the globe because of its highly infectious nature. No alarming signs and symptoms in early stage of infection are exhibited but lethal damage to the liver takes place in advanced stage. Over 750,000 people die of Hepatitis B each year.

Transmission of HBV takes place through blood or other body fluids. Possible routes of transmission include sexual contact, transfusions of blood and its components, re-use of contaminated needles, syringes and surgical instruments and from mother to child during childbirth.

Initial results of treatment are encouraging as the patients are not only clinically benefitted but have shown reduction in Viral load. Some have even been rendered seronegative.

Kidney Stones

Kidney stone is one of the most common disease of the urinary tract. They are formed due to low intake of water, high protein diet and low urine volumes. The common symptoms are renal colic, burning in urination and blood in urine. Such patients are prone to urinary tract infection. Kidney stones mostly consist of calcium oxalate, urates and phosphates. They can be dissolved, fragmented and passed out after suitable homoeopathic medicines. These medicines can prevent formation of stones and even cure cases of recurrence after surgery.

A clinical study conducted at GCCHR shows that majority of cases of renal stones unilateral or bilateral, big or small, single or multiple made up of oxalates and urates can be successfully treated.

Warts

Warts are small, usually multiple, firm, irregular, rough, cauliflower-like growth anywhere on skin resulting from hypertrophy of skin papillae caused by Human Papilloma Virus. It may be flat, pedunculated or sessile.

Homoeopathic treatment with constitutional medicine annihilates the lesion without leaving any footprint of disease and chances of recurrence are nil or minimal which is very common in surgical removal or cauterization.

A clinical study conducted at GCCHR have shown encouraging results as follows:

Fatty Infiltration of Liver

Fatty infiltration of liver is the excessive accumulation of fat in the liver cells with increased parenchymal echogenicity in ultrasonography. It is caused by consumption of alcohol, prolonged use of toxic medicines and fat-rich diet. It has been categorized into grades I-IV.

It can be cured successfully by proper holistic homoeopathic treatment. Given below are the results of a clinical study on fatty liver conducted at GCCHR.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is an autoimmune, non-contagious, inflammatory difficult to cure disease of skin of unknown cause with tendency to recur, characterised by well-defined erythematous plaques with silvery scales.

It could be caused due to various stress factors like sudden shock (death of loved ones, accident, betrayal, disappointment in love, financial loss, failure in business, examination or promotion) or prolonged psychological stress (separation/divorce, loss of property, discord in relation, frequent quarrels, suppression of emotions, problems, pre-marital or marital adjustment problems, frequent anger, court litigations, property dispute, anxieties regarding children, business, health, fear of disease especially cancer).

Application of Steroidal/Non-steroidal ointments and lotions gives temporary relief but causes suppression/palliation of symptoms while it can be cured by Homoeopathy. Homoeopathic drugs are prescribed taking into consideration causation, mental and physical symptoms of a person i.e. on holistic basis.

Lichen Planus

Lichen Planus is non-infectious, non-contagious autoimmune disease characterized by purple colored papular cutaneous lesions anywhere on the body. It may also affect the oral and ano-genital mucous membranes. Oral lichen planus has little risk of malignant transformation.

Exact cause of the disease is still unknown. According to Homoeopathic classification of diseases Lichen Planus comes under psycho-somatic category. Homoeopathic philosophy believes that certain emotional factors like mental trauma, grief, mortification, financial loss, disappointment etc. can trigger the immune system of the patient to produce antibodies against the person’s tissue itself.

We have obtained encouraging results, in the treatment of Lichen Planus by prescribing medicines according to the underlying causative factors on individualistic basis and not merely on disease symtpoms.

A short clinical study on Lichen Planus conducted at Gaurang clinic and Centre for Homoeopathic Research, Lucknow showed following results:

Fibroadenoma

Fibroadenoma is most common benign (non-cancerous) tumor of the breast. It is often discovered accidentally by self-examination. A uniform, firm, mobile, painless, well defined mass is felt on palpation. Commonly they are bilateral and 2-3 cm in diameter. It may occur between 15-50 years of age. The exact cause of fibroadenoma is not known. Hormonal treatment for other diseases has been associated with higher risk of developing fibroadenoma.

Although the treatment is surgical but it can be treated with homoeopathic medicines prescribed on holistic basis. A clinical study conducted at GCCHR has shown encouraging results:

Thyroid Disorders

The function of the Thyroid hormones T3 and T4 (composed of Iodine) is to regulate metabolism and they are secreted by the Thyroid Gland (in the neck) under the influence of Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) which is itself secreted by the Pituitary Gland (within the brain).

Hypothyroidism is the most common disorder of the Thyroid Gland which results from insufficiency of the Thyroid Hormones. The chief cause was believed to be lack/absence of Iodine in diet. However, despite widespread fortification of dietary common salt with Iodine, cases of the disease are constantly on the rise.

This is because recent researches suggest that it is the mind, the psychological state and stress which plays a major role in the development of most of the thyroid disorders. Homoeopathy is a medical science which does not view the mind and body separately. It recognizes the role of mind in the development of diseases and considers not only the diseased organs but also the mental state of a person while prescribing medicine.

On this basis, numerous thyroid diseases are being successfully treated at GCCHR, thereby preventing long term (presumably lifetime) intake of thyroid supplements in the form of hormone replacement and surgeries. The outcome of our work is mentioned below –

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) has been the most frequent reason for elderly men undergoing surgery. The successful management and treatment of BPH should seek both to improve symptoms and prevent disease progression.

Our work has shown the potential of homoeopathy in the treatment of BPH in terms of clinical improvement as well as diagnostic parameters. On the basis of encouraging results of in-house treatment data, Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) funded a research project to work on patients of BPH which has been successfully completed in year 2009 and published in IJRH journal of the council. The outcome data of patients treated at GCCHR is as under:
